To The Narcissist In My Life
To the Narcissist in my life
I met you in your porcelain face
I’ve seen the person you pretend to be
Of kindness, compassion
Empathy
But you see, I have a secret too
I’ve actually met quite a few of you
All a little different, yet still the same
You all think you’re the best in the game
A different time, a different place
Always with that GOD DAMN face
I caught you when you weren’t looking
I listened to what you were saying
I watched what you were doing
I heard what there was to hear
Even when you didn't know I was a prying ear
We’ve heard this story before
But please, let me tell it once more
I saw you at your core
The face behind the mask
You gaslighted them
As I have been gaslighted
You made them feel crazy
As I have been made to feel crazy
When they pointed something out
You said ‘that’s your problem’
As if they didn't know how to be
You even suggested they need therapy
You’re probably right, they do
All because of life with you
You hurt the people closest to you
Thank God the number is far and few
Always the victim
Never to blame
Hungry for attention
Quick to anger
The picture of perfection
You’re secretly a painter, did you know that?
A painter of your beautiful narrative
You’d never share with me the hurtful lies
The things you say about me
The one you secretly so despise
How about a vocabulary lesson
Do you know the words self-reflection?
You were smart, I’ll give you that
Because you knew never to do it in front of me
So let me reveal to you my golden key
You did it to the person I hold most dear
Because of that, you have something to fear
For I’ll teach them their true value away from you
They’ll learn to keep telling you the word NO
For you, my sweet sweet Narcissist is my natural foe
I will rip away from your control
Call it… Narcissist patrol?
You deserve the hurt you inflict
You deserve the self-loathing
You deserve to know what it was like every day I woke up with you like the new Narcissist in my life
An Empath who saw the ugly behind that porcelain mask
The one who sees you clear as day
As a light flicks off
And your mask fades away
See, all Narcissists have only a matter of time
Time till they reap what they sow and pay for the crime
You do not have the power
And I so await that fateful hour
I almost hope you cower
Once you’re alone in that Narcissistic tower
I see you
and they will too
But don't worry, this can't possibly be about you
You’re clearly not the Narcissist
